Summary :
This case study describes and explains the agricultural changes occurred in the upper
Chao Phraya delta along the 20th century, focusing on one area of the Borommathad
Irrigation project. It shows how the water regime has governed land use and how
interventions in water infrastructure and management have allowed to change from lowland
deep-water traditional rice to a diversified and intensive agriculture.
