Summary :

The research project "Family and the Elderly : a study of Bangkok and Phra Nakorn Sri Ayuddhaya" is under the project on "The Implications of Asia's Population Future for the Family and the Elderly" which is a multi-national joint research project, comprising 7 countries, namely Bangladesh, China, Indochina, Sri Lanka, Pakistan, Uzbekistan and Thailand.

The main objective of the project is to gain more detailed information about the family and household context in which the older persons live. The research findings are presented in this report comprise the socio-economic status of the elderly, family structure, kin availability and living arrangements, support exchange, problems and needs of the elderly and the elderly care. The result will assist in promoting the quality of life of the Thai elderly.
