Abstract
:
The main objective
of this study was to identify the factors which foster group contract
farming. It also sought to examine the efficiency of existing
groups with a view to improve and develop the asparagus grower
groups in Nakhon Pathom province. The results revealed that farmers
who were members of group contracts were more sustainable than
farmers who grew asparagus individually without the benefit of
company contracts.
The main factors related
to group contract farming are as follows. The
quality and volume of the product are the main issues that farmers
should pay attention to through efficient farm management. Group
management is a new formal system that has posed significant challenges
to both farmers and committees. One benefit of the change has
been the introduction of marketing management knowledge. Factors
supporting the evolution to group management include government
policy, outside support and the desire of farmers to manage their
groups.
